Why a C.A.R.E.S. Dog?
Sometimes known as a "Facility Dog," Interquest C.A.R.E.S. dogs are professionally selected and extensively evaluated in live school environments to ensure they have a correct temperament and genuine natural desire to connect with people to serve as an asset to existing counseling and mental health programs. We select a dog specifically for YOU based on the goals of the campus and the scope of the work. We work individually with each handler/campus to help utilize the dog to its fullest potential in his/her role.
Our dogs are taught a number of different ways to engage, interact with or calm a student. In addition, they have a high level of obedience training and home manners. They come to you with hours of live school experience already under their belt.
Due to our relationships with numerous school districts, we are able to conduct 100% of our training on a variety of campuses of all grade levels. This ensures that your dog has been exposed to the noisy, unpredictable, crowded and distracting school setting guaranteeing a smooth transition to your campus.
Upon placement with handler, our dogs complete an AKC Canine Good Citizen test as well as our Counseling Dog Competency Certification, with the option of recertifying annually. In addition, we offer guidance on how to introduce the program to parents and students as well as practical working solutions for those students with dog allergies or fear.
